Day 120: Refurbishing

April 30
Vicki got a new bike today, which means her old one is now Lexi's new one.  But Lexi didn't want a pink bike, so she and Chris went to the Home Depot and picked out some spray paint.  This pink bike will soon be a beautiful baby blue bike.

Day 119: Bike Racks Aren't Just for Bikes

April 29
They also make a handy-dandy playground!

Day 118: Student Services

April 28
Today marked the first physical steps I have taken in my journey back to school.  I met with an advisor and learned a lot (both comforting and not so much) about what the next couple of years are going to be like for me.  I feel too old to be doing this.  But I take great comfort in the fact that mine was not the only minivan in the parking lot!

Day 117: Totally Engrossed

April 27
After our recent (semi-disastrous) trip to Utah, Ellie has become enthralled with Magic Treehouse books in a way that her sisters never were.  We're currently reading Buffalo Before Breakfast, and she was very worried about Annie being trampled in the stampede (she makes it out okay, just so you know.)

Day 116: Standing Outside With My Mouth Open Wide

April 26
If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, oh what a rain that would be!

It Was Broke, So I Fixed It!

About a week ago, I noticed that my days were off from everyone else participating in Project 365.  I seemed to be a day behind.  I was afraid I'd missed another day somewhere, but after Chris calmed me down we looked through my pictures (and found this handy calendar) and figured out what went wrong.

Fortunately, I didn't miss taking any pictures.  I did, however, miss posting a couple of days.  Way back in February, I somehow left out Day 41.  I had a picture in my project 365 folder on my hard drive, labeled "041", but somehow I never posted it and went straight from Day 40 to Day 42 without ever noticing.  I posted it this morning, though, and you can see it here (right where it should be!)

On top of that, I somehow left out April 2, going straight from the 1st to the 3rd but still labeling the days in order (so the picture I had for Day 92 should have been Day 93, etc.)  In order to fix that and keep the days all in order (because I'm anal like that), I had to go in and do a lot of cutting and pasting, and in doing so, the comments got all messed up.  Good times.  I think I've fixed everything now (with notes indicating where comments are mixed up), and April 2's picture (I did take a picture that day, thank goodness!) is now Day 92, with everything following that shifted forward a day.  It's a good thing I have company in this project, or I may never have noticed my mistakes!

Day 115: New Bumper Sticker

April 25
Yes we can (again)!

Day 114: Happy Easter!

April 24
I'm very proud to say I made their skirts all by myself!

Day 113: Easter Eggs!

April 23
I think this is the most vivid batch of Easter eggs we've ever colored!

Day 112: Fighting off the Paparazzi

April 22
On the way home from dance class.

Day 111: Multnomah Falls

April 21
We were lucky to have my brother-in-law Blaine and his girlfriend Mel stay with us for a few days, and today we let the girls skip school and went to see the sights instead.  We love that we live less than half an hour from this breathtaking waterfall.

(Our next stop was OMSI, the science museum, so that makes up at least a little bit for missing school, right?)

Day 110: Proud of Her

April 20
Vicki was chosen to receive an award presented by the local Masonic Lodge as the outstanding female student at our elementary school.  We're so proud of all her hard work and dedication.  It really does pay off!  Here she is with her wonderful teacher and our amazing principal.

See here for a full post (full of parental pride.)

Day 109: Be Afraid

April 19
"I said, STOP TAKING MY PICTURE!"
Note: no parents were harmed in the taking of this picture.  I apologized, and she put the knife down and moved on with her dinner.

Day 107: Reading in the Sunshine

April 17
She found a new series to obsess over, and the sun finally came out.  These two events are not really related, but I still managed to get a shot of both of them at once.

Day 106: After the Ballet

April 16
I took the two big girls to see their friends perform in "Alice in Wonderland" this afternoon, and they were so inspired that they danced all the way from the theatre to the MAX stop, where they proceeded to entertain everyone waiting for the train.  The picture is slightly blurry not only because they were moving, but because I was laughing so hard.

Day 105: He's Licensed!

April 15
My pathetic attempt (although at least I spelled "congratulations" right) at a cake to celebrate that fact that, after 8 years of school and 6 years of internship and lots of blood, sweat, and tears, Chris is now officially a licensed architect!  Woohoo!

Day 104: Project

April 14
Finally got around to making a blanket for a special baby boy!

Day 103: Hailstorm

April 13
Crazy weather.  It's time for spring already!

Day 102: Can't...Hold...On...Much...Longer!

April 12
It was a beautiful day today (finally!) so we spent an extra long time playing at the school when we picked up her big sisters.  She loves the monkey bars, but she's still working on her monkey skills.

Day 101: Sunset Through the Window

April 11
I love being able to see the sunset through my bedroom window.  And I love our tree in the spring.

Day 99: Tin Shed Cafe

April 9
We discovered a new tasty place to eat tonight.  I had gorgonzola and butternut squash ravioli and Chris had a bacon & blue cheese burger.  Yum.

Day 98: Spring Flowers

April 8
Ellie found these rhododendron blooms and insisted on bringing them home.

*Note: they're actually camellias.  My bad.

Day 97: Tulips

April 7
Chris brought these home for me today.  For no reason, other than that he's just really awesome.  I can't wait to see what color they turn out to be!

Day 96: Hard at Work

April 6
The father-daughter Pinewood Derby is coming up.  But really, I posted this picture because of her facial expression.

Day 95: Singing Their Hearts Out

April 5
Today Vicki got to participate in the District Honor Choir.  She and her fellow choir students spent the day with the music teacher at the high school learning all sorts of musical skills.  Then, this evening, they treated us to a fabulous concert.  Our school district may be small (and horribly underfunded - but that's a rant for another day, and, really, another blog), but we love it anyway.

Day 94: Calling My Name

April 4
I have yet to find a chocolate chip cookie that tastes as good as the ones I make.  I'm just sayin' :)

Day 93: Life's Not Fair

April 3
It's not fair that her sisters have to have a turn to chat with Grandma and Grandpa, too.

Day 92: Painful Decision

April 2
We cleaned out the playroom and made the girls sort through the toys and choose some to donate.  These are the stuffed animals that, after a LOT of tears, Lexi finally decided to give up.  It was an extremely painful decision for this girl (despite the fact that most of these have been buried at the bottom of the stuffed animals bin for the last six months or so, and despite the fact that, by her count, she still has 42 stuffed animals that she didn't donate), and I'm proud of her for understanding that not all of life's choices are pleasant ones, and pushing on through her tears.

Day 91: Family Game Night

April 1
Friday night is typically family game or movie night around here.  Tonight it was both: dinner while watching Mythbusters, and a great game of Family Cranium afterward.
