Day 174: Colorful

June 23
Today's what-was-I-thinking summer activity: tie-dye.  With all three girls.  Some of the color made it onto the fabric.

Day 173: Ellie the Elf

June 22
Tonight was Ellie's dance recital.  They danced to a song called "Ellie the Elf".  Naturally, she felt she was the star of the show (and naturally, we agree.)  She did a great job and we had a blast watching her and all the other great dancers.

Day 172: Like the Fishies

June 21
Swimming lessons started today.  This is where we'll be pretty much every morning all summer long.

Day 171: Spell It

June 20
Playing Scrabble with the fam.  I lost let Chris win, because it's Father's Day.  Never mind that Vicki beat me, too.  Stupid "triple word score" squares.

Day 170: Piano Showcase

June 19
Vicki playing "A Whole New World" at a sort of mini-recital.

Day 169: Last Day

June 18
Today was the last day of school, and the first nice day in weeks (months...)  These three girls (Vicki and her two best friends) are now 5th graders.  Ugh.  STOP GROWING!!!

Day 168: Those are MY Earrings

June 17
Tonight this little mouse (he belongs to the Mousetrap game, but apparently escaped) turned up on my bathroom water glass, wearing my earrings.  What is the world coming to?

Day 167: Lonely

June 16
It was just a form letter about a summer basketball camp.  Mail makes me happy, but there wasn't nearly enough today.

Day 166: Bedtime Stories

June 15
Chris is reading to the girls.  They're all reading something else.  So it goes around here.

Day 165: What Do *You* Do in the Empty School Hallway?

June 14
Lexi cartwheels.

Day 164: In a Jam

June 13
And what, pray tell, do you do with 26 lbs of strawberries?  If you're us, you make a ridiculous amount of jam.

Day 163: Mmmmm...Strawberries

June 12
For five years we've been promising the girls we'd go strawberry picking.  We finally made good on that promise today with a visit to Sauvie Island.  We picked 26 lbs of strawberries (not counting the ones that never made it into the box.)

Day 162: Roll With It

June 11
Playing Killer Bunnies.  If my bunny hadn't been abducted by aliens at the last minute, I would have won, darn it!

Day 161: Anthropomorphic Car Console

June 10
You can see it, too, right?

Day 160: March!

June 9
Every year we walk in the Junior Rose Festival Parade.  This year we did it in our jammies.

Day 159: You Need Some Fish

June 8
We love our neighbor Ms. B.  And we love her backyard, too.  I will go ahead and admit here that I've coveted her backyard (and house, actually) for five years now.  Because of all the rain, there was water in the pond, but, much to Ellie's dismay, no fish.

Day 158: The Joshua Tree

June 7
I used to think U2 made that up.

Day 157: Zion National Park

June 6
Wow.

Day 156: The Dam Road

June 5
How we know we're almost to "The Dam House".
Why, yes, that is a totem pole of license plates in the background.  I don't know the people who own this house, but I imagine they're either really cool or slightly crazy.  Either way, I like them.

Day 155: A Flock of Umbrellas

June 4
Inside one of the many, many malls in Vegas.  Public art is awesome.

Day 154: It's All About Coordination

June 3
Princesses can wear whatever shoes they want as long as they match the dress.  Or so they tell me.

Day 153: Nature Finds a Way

June 2
These carrots sprouted out of the dirt spilled on the porch when I accidentally kicked over Lexi's pot from Brownies (she forgave me.)  I doubt they'll last, but they definitely get points for trying.

Day 152: Please, Mom-n-Daddy, Please

June 1
Vicki and two of her best friends at their school choir concert.
They were at the part in the song that went like this: "Please, Mom-n-Daddy, please, Mom-n-Daddy, please, Mom-n-Daddy, please, just a little elephant, please..."  It was quite cute.
(The only pictures I took today were at this concert, and this was the best one.  I hate the lighting in our school gym.)

Day 151: Spray

May 31
It was supposed to rain today, so we scrapped our Memorial Day trip to Mt. Hood plans and bought batik supplies at the craft store.  We make throw pillows that turned out really cool, despite our total lack of experience and/or confidence.
